Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Obesity and Cardiovascular Metabolism

The laboratories of Rexford Ahima, MD PhD, and Sangwon Kim, PhD, in the Division of Endocrinology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seek a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a background in obesity, metabolism, diabetes or cardiovascular physiology.

This position will be sponsored by American Heart Association (AHA), Obesity Strategically Funded Research Network (SFRN) grant for 2 years and can be extended upon successful completion. Under AHA SFRN, The Johns Hopkins AHA SRFN team will investigate the effects of time-restricted feeding on obesity, metabolic and cardiovascular health, exploring all aspects of basic, clinical and population science. The Ahima and Kim laboratories will lead a basic science project focusing on mouse and cellular models.  The AHA SFRN fellow is expected to attend a monthly center meeting, collaborate with faculty and trainees, and present a poster at the annual AHA meeting. This position is available for an immediate start.

Requirements:

  • Recent graduate with PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, physiology or a related field
  • Strong publication record
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments independently
  • Ability to work with others as a team
  • Ability to write manuscripts and fellowship applications, and present research findings at national meetings
  • Excellent command of the English language
