Responsibilities
The daily support of Safety/ Industrial hygiene for Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) is critical. As an Industrial Hygienist/Safety Representative, you are responsible for ensuring that the goals of a safe and healthy work environment are actively pursued in an effective and conscientious manner. You will provide tactical assurance of compliance with all laws, statutes, regulations, and appropriate standards at all locations for areas related to exposure control and containment of potent processes. You will actively promote the safety culture across the organization by placing a primary focus on accident prevention, hazard assessment and employee occupational safety and health. This role provides primary HSE support to Delivery Devices Research and Development, the Clinical Trial Distribution Warehouse, and the research facility in Cambridge, MA. Responsibilities also include:
  • Develop and implement HSE programs consistent with the LRL and Corporate HSE standards
  • Mentor and coach safety committee leaders for each area of support
  • Provide incident review and follow up to safety incidents and actions reported via HSE Event Management system
  • Implementation of all aspects of the chemical hygiene plan and exposure assessment plan for chemicals including quantitative and qualitative exposure assessment surveys
  • Support Laboratory Safety initiatives under the direction of the Chemical Hygiene Officer

In this role you should be an effective collaborator with multiple team members and external HSE consultants. You will work to maintain LRL Industrial Hygiene Laboratory and equipment maintenance. As a point of contact, you will provide support to LRL technical teams including event management and industrial hygiene. You will also:
  • Provide technical support for exposure assessment field activities including qualitative and quantitative chemical assessments under the direction of LRL Industrial Hygiene staff.
  • Be capable of executing training including Hazard Communication, Lab safety, and PPE Usage.
  • Communicate workplace hazards to employees and management and influence change when necessary.

Other responsibilities include execution of the following programs:
  • Containment engineering
  • Reproductive hazard reviews
  • Accident investigation support
  • Health and safety audit response

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Health and Safety Environment, Engineering or Sciences, or Other related to Health and Safety Environment
