In vivo Research Associate (Behavioral Pharmacology)

Epiodyne┬« is a rapidly-growing biotech startup located in Mountain View, California. We are focused on developing breakthrough drugs for validated neuroscience targets. Make use of your leadership and troubleshooting abilities by joining a team of scientists dedicated to seeking breakthrough therapies for Central Nervous system disorders.  We are seeking a highly motivated and productive Behavioral Pharmacology Research Associate to join our team. In this role, you will design and conduct in vivo rodent behavior experiments that generate high quality data to support our medicinal chemistry and drug development efforts.  Previous laboratory experience in an academic or industrial setting is required. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct rodent behavior experiments to determine analgesic efficacy and abuse liability of novel small molecule opioid ligands
  • Multi-task, work as part of a team, and based upon either experimental procedures or deadlines to work on weekends as required
  • Detailed data recording and basic statistical analysis
  • Interact with all levels of management, technical and scientific personnel to develop models and technology for discovery and preclinical product advancement
  • Order supplies and equipment and prepare experimental reagents.


  • MSc in life sciences with two or more years of industrial or academic animal laboratory experience, or BSc in life science with three or more years of experience
  • Hands-on proficiency in rodent handling procedures, including dosing, surgical procedures, and tissue isolation
  • Proficiency in dosing techniques: PO, IP, IV, SC, IM
  • Previous experience in behavioral assays for pain, addiction, or opioid pharmacology is a plus
  • Highly organized, with a proven ability to accurately schedule and allocate resources
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with data entry and statistical analysis
