- Reporting to the Team Lead, Cattle, in the Farm Animal Business Unit, the Technical Services Veterinarian is responsible for providing technical support to the Merck Animal Health field team and our customers for our vaccines and pharmaceuticals.
- The Technical Services Veterinarian will be primarily focused on the bovine product portfolio
- The Technical Services Veterinarian will be based in Ontario (London / Guelph, etc). The majority of the time will be working in the province of Ontario and remainder travelling outside of the province.
- Provide medical and scientific information about Merck Animal Health products as requested by all veterinary clients and their customers, and Merck Animal Health marketing and sales management;
- Handling Merck Animal Health farm animal product performance complaints; reporting product quality complaints according to Merck Animal Health procedures;
- Contribute to the development, subject areas and content, and the delivery of technical training programs as coordinated between other Technical Services Veterinarians, Product Managers, Regional Business Managers and the Business Unit Director;
- Liaise with other Merck Animal Health Technical Services Veterinarians, US Operations and Global departments concerning issues and opportunities;
- Liaise with the Regional Business Manager and sales team to improve the success of the Farm Animal Business Unit. This includes providing scientific information and training with the goal to support the field force in building customer relationships.
- In collaboration with the Technical Services, Marketing and Sales teams as required, design and implement initiatives and activities related to Key Opinion Leaders, Universities and Key Accounts.
- Travels on client calls with and without field representatives on a regular basis to support the Farm Animal team with responsibilities mainly for the Ontario cattle business; however, some support for all of Canada will be required;
- Participate in Regional, National, New Product, Training, Brand Review and other Merck meetings throughout the year;
- Represent Merck with Industry associations, partners and stakeholders.
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine, with veterinary license in Canada;
- Previous veterinary experience with major emphasis in cattle (beef, dairy) production medicine, (a minimum of 3 years in private practice or industry); depending on qualifications of candidate, responsibilities may extend to the equine product portfolio;
- Ability to think and act strategically;
- Ability to understand, integrate and communicate scientific concepts to lay and professional persons accordingly;
- Ability to plan, organize and execute high quality work;
- Ability to work effectively on own, self-motivated;
- Ability to collaborate and work with cross-functional teams in achieving individual and company objectives;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written);
- Perform with a high level of business integrity and professionalism;
- Knowledge of Office technology and related software;
- Willing to travel across Canada, to the U.S.A. and potentially to International meetings;
- Must have a valid driver's license;
- Language: English (French is an asset).
