Merck’s success is backed by ethical integrity, forward momentum, and an inspiring mission to achieve new milestones in global healthcare. The Associate Director, Patient Innovation and Engagement is responsible for (1) enterprise wide collaboration and execution to enable the planning and execution of selected Office of the Chief Patient Officer (OCFO) patient engagement activities to assure that patients’ perspectives remain central to all our work (across the portfolio and life cycle of medicines); (2) collaboration with partners inside and outside of Merck to solicit and include the voices of the patients in research, medical affairs, commercial, policy, and manufacturing plans; and (3) collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders to create an optimal “Merck Experience” for patients, consumers and participants in our clinical trials. (4) Facilitate and drive the science and innovation of patient engagement at Merck by collaborating with patients and key stakeholders
The position of Associate Director : Patient Engagement and Insights, Office of the Chief Patient Officer is responsible for the coordination and operational aspects for the execution of Patient Input Forums (PIFs), Scientific Input Engagements (SIEs) with scientific experts and patient advocacy leaders as the primary audience, Chief’s Rounds (CRs), and other meetings such as Patient Dialogues (PD) conducted through third parties (scope: all therapeutic areas and also general topics like Access to Medicines, Health Literacy, and Diversity and Inclusion in alignment with Merck’s Corporate Responsibility objectives and Office of the Chief Patient Officer Areas of Interests).  Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:
  • Bachelors Degree required, RN, PA, or RPh degree or Master’s degree preferred (science, business, government relations/ public policy, communications degree preferred).
Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting a grants program process, including reviewing grant proposals, compliantly executing approved grants, doing metrics, reporting, etc. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience planning, coordinating, implementing and follow up of patient engagements (or similar activities) 
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience providing oversight of support staff (i.e., project managers, external contractors, administrative assistants) 
  • Experience leading and managing the process and implementing patient engagement guidances (or equivalent) strongly preferred 
  • Experience providing oversight and coordination of webcasts and other creative processes 
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing trusted and meaningful relationships with patients, patient groups and organizations strongly preferred 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written as well as oral), results-oriented project management, facilitation and consultative skills to influence decision making are required 
  • Experience managing interactions with senior leaders  
Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of the Merck Research Laboratories, Global Human Health and Merck Manufacturing is preferred: operational structure, legal, compliance procedures and operating model.
