The Beatty Lab (www.beattylab.com) at Oregon Health & Science University seeks to hire a talented postdoctoral scholar. This person will join an innovative research project developing a new technology for labeling cellular proteins for imaging by fluorescence and electron microscopy. Members of this NIH funded project are creating a customizable toolkit of versatile interacting peptide (VIP) tags for mapping the cellular organization of multi-protein complexes and macromolecular interactions that underlie human diseases. Qualified applicants for this position will have recently completed their PhD (within 3 years of the start date) and have demonstrated an aptitude for completing projects. An ideal candidate will have experience in biochemistry, cell biology, or chemical biology.
Postdocs in the Beatty Lab join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team of scientists in the OHSU Center for Spatial Systems Biomedicine (OCSSB). Members of the OCSSB, led by Dr. Joe Gray, bring together diverse expertise in chemical biology, biochemistry, cancer cell biology, bioengineering, genomics, computational analysis, clinical trials, and imaging.
The Beatty lab is located in the Collaborative Life Sciences Building, a vibrant research and learning center on the Willamette River in beautiful Portland, Oregon. This building houses the Multiscale Microscopy Core, a state-of-the-art fluorescence and electron microscopy facility. The environment is unique-- combining innovative research programs with new, state-of-the-art research facilities.
