As our US CIM (Commercial Information Management) Senior Data Analyst at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow. Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives. 

 

The Data Analyst will be primarily responsible for supporting the effective delivery of data integration and BI/Analytics projects through analysis and interpretation of Commercial data to enable the Business to make effective commercial operations insights and decisions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of source (external and internal) data to support the requirements gathering and understanding how the data supports the requirements of the delivery projects.
  • Support the Business in the understanding and interpretation of commercial data and help to derive approaches for how data can be used to support effective commercial operations.
  • Document the data needs for the project including the data required to support the necessary delivery phases of the project; including all testing phases.
  • Present data requirements and outcomes of data analysis to the Business and internal IT colleagues.
  • Ownership of the resolution of data related defects and issues and support in the analysis of these issues as part of project or production support activities.
 

You will work and learn more about:

  • US Commercial strategy
  • Utilizing external and internal data to support Business driven commercial insights
  • Enabling BI capability to support business strategy
  • Working within the market and leveraging the hub network
 

Qualifications

Education:

  • B.S. or M.S. in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
 

Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience doing data analysis, using SQL and other standard data querying tools.
  • Experience working with pharmaceutical commercial data.
  • Ability to lead requirements sessions with clients and project teams.
  • Understanding of data management best practices and data analytics.
  • Experience with Data Warehousing, data mart and any other and related modeling concepts.
 

Preferred:

  • Leverage appropriate development methodologies (e.g.: agile, waterfall) and best practices.
  • Knowledge of predictive analysis tools (i.e. SAS, R).
