How will you invent the future?
As an IT Security Awareness Specialist at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow. Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives. You will be responsible for communicating and providing awareness for information security risks impacting Merck. This role will enable a clear understanding of compliance with information security internal policies and standards and external regulations and applicable laws and thereby reduce security risks and improve the culture.
The position requires a strong understanding of security & risk management, SDLC, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
The Specialist will execute work in alignment with Merck IT goals and initiatives and serve to: Create and publish information security-related plans, communications, standards, and presentations with creative graphics and styles communicate elements of risk and promote security awareness. Create supporting process documentation, such as: standards, guidelines, work-instructions, presentations, project/task plans. Collaborate with various levels of IT and business staff and closely collaborate with corporate communications, security and risk liaisons, , hardware and application teams, as well as third party vendors as needed. Create detailed presentations of Awareness initiatives, efforts, metrics and status to communicate to all levels of staff and management. Support a positive culture change through continuous monitoring, awareness, education, partnering with industry standard leaders and promoting best practices.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or Information Security. Required: Experience in awareness, communications and education. Good understanding of IT information security.Demonstrated experience creating clear and effective communications, presentations & awareness campaigns. Demonstrated ability to execute on multiple high priority tasks and report to all levels of management. Graphic design experience.Demonstrated ability to work independently and on multiple efforts effectively and in a timely fashion.Demonstrated ability to generate status and metric reports. Excellent Excel & PowerPoint skills.Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft SharePoint platform.Excellent team collaboration skills. Preferred:Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in a communications, awareness, and/or educational role.Demonstrated experience in an information security/educational role.In-depth understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle standards.Demonstrated ability of interpreting security policies and external security regulations and laws, in particular, Information Security and Privacy. An understanding of external information security regulations and applicable laws (Privacy, Safe Harbor, HIPAA, etc.) and relevant Industry Regulations, Standards, and Frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT,OWASP,SOX,GDPR, and others). An understanding of gaming technology or other creative technologiesAbility to measure marketing and communication tactics to show ROI.
