The Merck Exploratory Science Center inCambridge provides a unique experience to contribute to Merck’s drugdiscovery efforts at one of the earliest stages of the process. Co-opstudents will be part of a highly collaborative and innovative scientificculture with the ultimate goal of learning new biology that drivestherapeutic development. Students willbe exposed to immunology, microbiology, chemical biology, synthetic chemistryand bioactive discovery both within the Merck Exploratory Science Center andother Merck Sites across the country. Withaccess to Merck’s proven global R&D organization, you will have theopportunity to collaborate with talented and dedicated colleagues whiledeveloping and expanding your career.
This Co-op position will assist in buildingand characterizing physiologically relevant 3D models of the gut to supportdrug discovery efforts. To do so, we will be utilizing a combination ofmolecular and cellular techniques.
Co-Op positioncommitment: 6 months, July 2018 – December 2018
- Candidates must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate majoring in Biology/Biochemistry/Bioengineering/Immunologyor a related field as a sophomore or above
- Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.2
- Candidates must be available full-time during the months of July 2018 – December 2018
- Experience with mammalian tissue culture, qPCR and imaging
- Highly motivated and driven and willing to take initiative to learn new science
- Strong team player
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Comfortable using a PC computer and proficient in Windows-based operating systemsand basic applications, such as spreadsheets and databases
