This Co-op position will be toassist in building novel bioactive discovery platforms to studyhost-microbial interactions to understand mechanisms by which the humanmicrobiome controls health or disease. To do so, we will be utilizing acombination of approaches in microbiology and cell/molecular/chemicaltechniques. The student will also help to design experimental approaches foruncovering the causative role(s) of the microbiome in various human diseases.In addition, the student will be expected to work with their mentor toidentify and execute a research project during the Co-op experience.
Emerging scientist with curiosityand attention to detail. Performs basic techniques in support of discoverybiology research, including preparation of basic cell, molecular andmicrobiological assays. Meticulously applies pre-defined procedures toexecute experiments, observes all details and records results in a highlyorganized manner. Effectively communicates results in both written and oralform. Contributes to a diverse team and asks questions.
- Candidates must be a currently enrolled rising senior (preferred), or junior,working on Bachelor, or Master, of Science degree in Biology or related field
- Candidates must have completed college level microbiology and/ormolecular biology laboratory course
- Candidates must be Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Previous experience as a co-operative trainee
