Associate Director for Basic Sciences
The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) seeks an outstanding NCI-funded, basic cancer researcher to drive the scientific direction of the Center’s basic science initiatives, and in tandem with the Associate Directors for Translational Research and Clinical Investigations, to co-lead the Center’s efforts to translate its basic science discoveries to cancer therapeutics. The Associate Director for Basic Sciences develops and promotes research by providing the vision and direction for growth in cancer basic sciences, and ensures basic science is well integrated across all UACC’s established Research Programs. This senior leadership role works closely with the Cancer Center Director and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans for the UACC.
The UACC has 4 established Research Programs, Cancer Biology, Therapeutic Development, Cancer Imaging, and Cancer Prevention and Control, and supports 10 shared resources including Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Tissue Acquisition and Analysis, Animal Models and others. The UACC, is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center; the only one headquartered in Arizona. The UACC accrues patients to clinical trials at two large free-standing clinical cancer centers in Tucson and Phoenix and is a member of the NRG cooperative groups.
