Position Overview:
As a post-doctoral fellow in Merck Research Labs Translational Molecular Biomarkers group based in Kenilworth, NJ, you will work with a highly collaborative team of scientists to understand the longitudinal effects of standard of care chemotherapies on biomarkers relevant to immune checkpoint modulation. This work will enable us to inform on selection of optimal sequences for combination immunotherapy and/or identify novel prognostic/predictive biomarkers.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct in vitro and ex vivo experiments and analysis using a variety of techniques including but not limited to multiparameter cytometry, functional immune cell assays, e.g. T-cell activation and proliferation, cytokine profiling
  • Functional characterization of cellular immune components from clinical specimens 
  • Collaborate with Merck discovery, translational, clinical scientists and external partners to conduct translational biomarker research studies
  • Data interpretation, manuscript preparation, publication and presentation of results
  • Contribute to a safe and compliant laboratory work environment 

Education Minimum Requirement:  
  • Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology or closely related field, with less than 3 years of Postdoctoral Experience or achieved a  Ph.D. by Spring/Summer of  2018 
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Experience in (8+) polychromatic flow cytometry and FACS analyses
  • Isolation and culture of primary human immune cells for in vitro/ex vivo functional studies
  • Experience in tumor immunobiology
  • Ability to design experiments, interpret and track results, and utilize information to enable assay development
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Single-cell data bioinformatics
  • Monitoring immune responses in cancer therapies
  • Familiarity with biology of immune checkpoint inhibitors
  • Immunohistochemistry, genomics, immunoassay experience
  • Strong history of publication in peer-review journals
