The Supervisor, Maintenance & Equipment position is available at Merck's Animal Health facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  The Baton Rouge facility is responsible for product manufacturing for large and companion animals, as well as Aqua Culture.

 

The Supervisor, Maintenance & Equipment position manages the Maintenance department and ensures the repair and upkeep of both plant and production equipment to provide efficient and continuous operation.


This is accomplished through a computerized maintenance planning system (i.e., MP2) to maintain critical spare parts inventory, scheduling of work orders, and supervision of 9 support positions that carry out various duties.

This position is also responsible for:

  • Equipment purchasing 
  • Departmental environmental compliance and safety program
  • Site calibration program
  • Supervision of outside contractors and contract temporary personnel that provide janitorial services and grounds upkeep
  • Communication with all levels and positions at the site daily 
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical information or instructions to operators, supervisors and managers

Qualifications


Education:

  • BS / MS in Engineering Degree or equivalent education
 


Required:
  • Minimum five (5) years maintenance experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory experience, preferably in a maintenance area.
  • Experience with production machinery (repairing, installing, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic electrical and control work.
  • Experience in writing and implementing Preventive Maintenance SOPs, Compliance Policies, and production instructions.
  • Experience in communicating and negotiating with suppliers and vendors.
  • Experience in purchasing / negotiation procedures.
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with short timelines and multiple priorities.
  • Profiecient in Microsoft.
Preferred:
  • Experience in a GMP facility.
  • Work experience in a regulated (e.g., EPA, FDA, USDA) manufacturing facility desired.
  • CAD experience highly desired.
  • Has or is eligible for certification as a professional Engineer.
