Director, Center for Perioperative Organ Protection

The Duke University Department of Anesthesiology is seeking candidates for the founding Director of the Center for Perioperative Organ Protection (CPOP).  The CPOP Director will spearhead a diverse team of basic and clinical researchers who share the common interest in understanding physiological and pathological mechanisms throughout the perioperative period.  Through this multi-disciplinary research approach, the overall mission of CPOP is to develop and translate innovative therapies that improve organ protection and patient outcomes. Experience in writing, submitting, and managing multiple NIH grants as a Principal Investigator is required. A background in immunology or neuro-inflammation is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D., MD/Ph.D. or MD in a relevant field as well as the social and leadership skills to bring together a scientifically diverse group of investigators.
