The Associate Director, Diabetes: Customer & Patient Strategy will play an important role as we transition to the new Global marketing and Global Human Health (GHH) operating model, while helping to improve lives of patients.
- Leverage a deep understanding of the diabetes treatment landscape and competitive market across health care providers, Market Access and Consumer to develop integrated digital customer strategies across our segments that will support the needs of the key markets. Subject matter expertise will be required across SEO, paid search, display ads, paid and earned social, mobile, websites & apps, and mobile technologies This role will work across the portfolio in collaboration with each global diabetes brand team, market access team, the consumer Center of Expertise (COE), the digital COE, the strategy realization office (SRO), our top markets, and our collaboration partners as appropriate.
- Lead brand strategy development that reflects the spirit and intention of the new GHH strategy.
- Leverage new and emerging data and research sciences to uncover novel insights, while challenging and assessing current views and beliefs.
- Ensure brand and franchise teams are leveraging the full power of marketing efforts to enhance our products, services and experiences we offer our customers and patients.
- Lead systematic approaches that stimulate innovation, deliver organizational learning, while leveraging the collective intelligence and learnings of the organization.
- Embed test and learn approaches into strategy development.
- Develop customer and patient journeys that identify opportunities for engagement that create value for patients, customers and Merck/franchise.
- Develop business case, investment needs and activities that support realization of the strategy and priorities.
- Consistently leverages digital, advanced analytics to enable the execution of patient and customer plans as part of the broader franchise strategies.
- Bachelor’s Degree (4 years)
- BA/BS degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
- 5+ pharmaceutical industry experience
- 3+ years of marketing experience
- 2-5 years of digital enabled customer marketing experience including both strategy and execution.
- Proven ability to work in a matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders
- Experience using digital and data analytics to measure impact of interventions and program
- Experience working with various digital platforms to gain insights into traditional and non-traditional customers.
- Experience in consumer or patient marketing
- Knowledge of the diabetes therapeutic space
- Exceptional knowledge of digital trends and social media technologies that will drive digital audience growth
- Data driven, with experience in relevant web analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, 1010 Data, Adobe Analytics);
- Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of user experience design
- Creative thinking / problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively across teams
- Self-motivated; hands-on approach to work
- Communicates proactively and effectively
- Bias towards speed and agility
