The Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) Exploratory Science Center (ESC) Cambridge, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck and Co., is focused on driving early discovery research.   • Become part of a creative and flexible team that will investigate host/pathogen interactions with the ultimate goal of delivering novel therapeutics to address significant unmet medical need in infectious well as broader indications 
  • Leverage advances in the study of host-pathogen interactions and employ new technologies to impact programs.
  • Expertise in growing and working with bacterial and fungal strains, maintaining mammalian cell cultures, DNA cloning, western blotting, ELISA, microscopy and flow cytometry
  • Critical to success are a high degree of organization, a go-getter mentality, as well as advanced experimental capabilities




  • Required:  BS in Microbiology/Biology/Biochemistry or related discipline
  • Preferred: MS in Microbiology
Required Experience:  
  • Minimum  of (2) years Laboratory Research experience in an Academic and/or Industrial setting
  • Bacteria isolation and growth, maintenance of mammalian cell culture
  • Molecular biology: cloning, DNA and RNA purification, qPCR
  • Western blotting, ELISA
  • Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assays
  Preferred Experience:  
  • Experience working with fungal cultures
  • In-vivo experience with handling, dosing, adoptive transfers, oral gavages
  • Flow cytometry
  • Fluorescence/confocal microscopy
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
