Associate Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Molecular Medicine: Tissue Repair in Infectious Diseases
Lund University, Faculty of Medicine,
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The University has 42 000 students and 7 400 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.
The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Our academic programs are closely linked with the healthcare system and are firmly anchored in the faculty’s strong research tradition. Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. The Faculty of Medicine, with its 1,800 employees and 2,700 students in Lund and Malmö, is a knowledge-intensive meeting place for students, teachers and researchers from all over the world.
In this tenure track position call (Wallenberg Molecular Medicine Fellow) we are addressing outstanding young scientists with international research experience.
The position is located within the Faculty of Medicine. Departmental placement will be determined at the time of appointment. The position is timed limited to four years with the possibility for promotion to Senior Lecturer.
The initiative to the Wallenberg Centres for Molecular Medicine (WCMM) was taken in 2014 by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW) by means of a significant investment over ten years for young researchers in four research centres at the universities of Lund, Gothenburg, Umeå and Linköping. The Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine at Lund University has its focus on Regenerative Medicine (restoration of normal cell-, tissue- and organ function by regeneration, replacement, and repair). In the current call we seek a candidate within the field Molecular Medicine: Tissue Repair in Infectious Diseases.
The successful candidate will receive a career package of two doctoral students (2x4 year) and two post-doc positions (2x2years) as well as an operational grant of SEK 1.5 million per year for four years.
The interaction between WCMM and the university health care in Region Skåne is crucial. Skåne University Hospital in Malmö-Lund is one of the largest hospitals in Sweden with more than 12000 employees providing all aspects of medicine from primary to highly specialized health care services. The hospital has a long tradition of advanced medical research and education. Integrated research environments will be created during autumn 2016 by the opening of a 50% clinical research position at Region Skåne in the same focus area as described above.
