Global Talent Management: External Best Practice and Network
  • Maintain knowledge, network and expertise in external best practices across all areas of talent management with a focus on flexible talent models and the future of work. 
  • Identify internal and external key Talent issues and trends to impact Merck priorities, programs and processes. 
  • Collaborate with the Global Talent Management team in applying best practices and leading edge approaches to Merck enterprise talent strategy and initiatives.
  • Act as subject matter expert including sharing best practices and trends to support HR Business Partners in helping them drive the implementation of their divisional/functional talent strategies and priorities.
Talent Management COE
  • Provide ongoing Talent Management consultation to HR Business Partners to support the development and implementation of divisional/functional talent engagement programs.
  • Manage and support implementation of Executive talent planning and reviews, including semi-annual Business & Talent Review discussions and the Talent portion of Quarterly Operations Reviews. Includes defining and reporting on key talent metrics, integrating input from divisional HR, integrating and drawing conclusions from talent analyses, and identifying and managing risks and opportunities in embedding talent more fully as a part of our business processes.
  • Refine the company's senior executive profile requirements, driving the consistent application of methodologies aimed at assessing, selecting and developing executive leaders.
  • Facilitate HRLT Talent Council to ensure input and alignment on enterprise and executive talent initiatives, best practice and talent information sharing across divisions, and aggressive evolution of our talent strategies.
Fluid Talent Networks
  • Talent Management lead in supporting the exploration and expansion of fluid talent networks: conduct targeted experiments such as LHH career counseling, YourEncore, cross-industry mentoring, external workforce and alumni network pilot.
  • Scale successful pilots, increase internal talent mobility, expand non-traditional and external employment models, continue experiments. 
  • Explore additional ideas: internal mobility (“liquid workforce”), external job swaps, freelancers, crowdsourcing etc. 
Other
  • Manage Women’s Sponsorship Program, Executive Coaching and other key executive development programs, excluding formal learning programs. Actively manage vendor, customer, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Participate as an active member of the Global Talent Management Leadership Team. Integrate and leverage expertise and approaches across Global Talent Management (e.g., Recruiting/Talent Acquisition, Leadership Learning & Development, Talent Consulting).
  • Develop and report out on overall metrics dashboard for Talent Management. Conduct analyses, determine key issues for action, and collaborate on solutions with appropriate stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred in related discipline
Required:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in human resources, talent management, leadership development or relevant area
  • Broad business view and understanding of the Company’s divisions and regions. Strong business acumen and global experience.
  • Extensive experience working with senior executives; strong executive presence with demonstrated ability to communicate with and influence senior leaders.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills. Flexibility to meet business needs while moving key programs and priorities forward.
  • Discretion, comfort and confidentiality in working with very sensitive information. 
  • Comfort with ambiguity and highly matrixed organizational structures
