Lab Information: The Douglas research group specializes in the use of virus like particles and other protein cage structures for applications in immunology, chemical biology, catalysis, and materials science (http://douglas.chem.indiana.edu/).
Job Summary: The Douglas Lab is taking applications for one Research Associate position. The successful applicant will clone (mutate), express, purify and characterize a range of proteins, maintain DNA plasmid library and glycerol stocks of bacterial cultures, assist with lab instrument maintenance, and prepare data for publication/grant writing. The applicant is expected to have a strong background in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or microbiology.
Required Qualifications: M.S. degree with knowledge or experience in biochemistry and microbiology techniques. Needs to be proficient with bacterial growth, protein expression and purification, molecular biology (cloning and mutagenesis), lab equipment use, and maintaining a BSL1 (or BSL2) lab.
Preferred Qualifications: A strong background in biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, or biomaterials chemistry. Some research experience in cell biology, immunology, or biomaterials chemistry is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills and publications on related topics in peer-reviewed journals are required.
