The Sr. Specialist, Business/Tech. Analysis position is responsible for providing Account Management support through business analysis activity for key initiatives in the Integrated Account Management (IAM) organization for Merck’s Global Human Health US Market. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on highly integrated teams defining the expectations for critical IT programs that enable Merck’s contracting, sales, and marketing strategies. The challenging, fast-paced, and visible initiatives deliver significant and measurable value to Merck. This role will be a key collaborative capability joining business subject matter expertise with IT enablement.

The key responsibilities of this role may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide business analysis domain support for the IAM domain.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients across functional areas and help to manage client expectations.
  • Enable successful project execution through collaborative efforts with strategic software and services partners.
  • Define business cases for, and relative priority of, proposed IT investments as well as develop metrics, and track progress realization.
  • Provide strategic expertise and thought leadership to the business clients and program delivery team.
  • Act as a credible change agent to align the client IT portfolio with the overall business strategy.
  • Support IT demand management and IT portfolio planning.
  • Share and leverage global best practices and utilization of capabilities with the broader Merck Global Human Health IT community.
  • Travel up to 5% of the time, mostly within the Americas region and IT hubs.


  • Bachelors Degree preferably in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

  • Minimum 5 years relevant analytical experience in Information Technology role.
  • Demonstrated experience with Business Requirements Specifications, Business Case development, business process mapping, and workshop facilitation.
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills along with high personal integrity, credibility, and energy.
  • Results-orientation with the proven ability to execute on collaborative project plans.
  • Proven track record of robust analytical skills, effective problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Desire to develop extensive subject matter expertise in an enterprise-critical, challenging, and highly visible segment of the Merck US Market.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Prior experience working in support of pharmaceutical contracting, sales, or marketing.
  • Intermediate technical skills with SQL, XML, etc.
  • Advanced proficiency with presentation tools (Powerpoint, Adobe Illustrator, etc.)
  • Master’s or other advanced degree.
  • Green Belt or other Six Sigma Certification.
  • Experience with Merck/MSD systems development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
