Outstanding opportunity available at the Cedars-Sinai Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute (IBIRI) for a researcher at the assistant or associate professor level. IBIRI brings basic laboratory, translational, clinical and drug development research together in a 360°, highly-interactive model, with a goal of accelerating the rate at which scientific discovery is applied to patient care. Researchers with complementary programs in basic or translational research are encouraged to apply. The Director of IBIRI is Dr. Stephan Targan. Members of the institute are expected to interact with each other, colleagues at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and collaborators nationally and internationally, and to build independent, grant-funded research programs. IBIRI is home to the unique resource known as the Cedars-Sinai MIRIAD IBD Biobank, one of the world’s largest repositories of well-characterized patient specimens with associated clinical metadata.

Applicants should have demonstrated research interests in molecular mechanisms and processes underlying development, severity, or treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. Qualified candidates should possess an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree with relevant training and experience in the field. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to research in, mucosal immunology, epithelial cell biology, intestinal fibrosis, inflammatory responses to microbiota, lymphocyte polarization, and genetic influences on disease development.

Cedars-Sinai is an exceptional environment in which to conduct translational research. The Cedars-Sinai Health System is among the nation’s leading providers of healthcare services, medical education, and medical research, with total annual revenues of $3.3 billion.  We have a large research enterprise, comprising more than 1,500 research projects and a robust technology transfer portfolio, as well as highly sought-after training programs, including more than 400 medical residents and fellows. Cedars-Sinai is widely known for its national leadership in transforming healthcare for the benefit of patients. There is a strong institutional commitment to expand and strengthen the research infrastructure.
