An NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available to participate in studies related to neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity in brain mesolimbic reward pathway relevant to the development and expression of drug addiction and depression. Ongoing projects in the lab include studies focused on corticotropin releasing factor signaling in the lateral habenula, and epigenetic and synaptic modifications in the ventral tegmental area and lateral habenula contributing to dopamine dysfunction associated with early life stress. Patch clamp recordings with optogenetics and stereotaxic injections of viral vectors and/or pharmacological agents will be used in combination with molecular and behavioral techniques. Successful applicants are expected to have prior experience in animal handling, mouse genetics, and stereotaxic surgical techniques.
