Post-Doctoral Research Fellow position in Global Health at Weill Cornell Medical College’s Research Center in Haiti

A post-doctoral research fellow position in Microbiology at NIH-funded GHESKIO laboratory in Port au Prince, Haiti, to conduct mentored research on M. tuberculosis. Les Centres GHESKIO has received 30 years of NIH research support and operates a state of the art BSL-3 TB laboratory and TB hospital. This is a unique opportunity to receive rigorous microbiology training and participate in clinical research in a resource poor setting.

Participating in a multi-institutional TB Research Unit consortium, GHESKIO is engaged in a seven year study of the immunology, host genetics, and microbiology of TB latency and persistence. With training from Weill Cornell faculty, the post-doctoral fellow will participate in study of latency and persistence, carry out experiments in the BSL 3 laboratory, contribute to the training of Haitian technicians, and mentor visiting students.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D, M.D., D.V.M., or Pharm. D degree, experience in microbiology research, and ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and other personnel. French language skills are helpful but not required.

The candidate will be based in Haiti with travel to New York City for research meetings and presentations. Anticipated start date is July 2018.
