The Diabetes and Complications Therapeutic Area (DCTA) of Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, IN, USA focuses on the discovery of biologics and small molecule therapeutics for the treatment of diabetes and associated complications. We are looking to build our team and need a Biologist in Diabetic Complications Discovery to play a key role in discovering new, innovative therapies for heart failure. Your role will incorporate the development of cardiac myocyte assays. Do you have experience either isolating and testing adult rodent cardiomyocytes and/or iPSC derived cardiomyocytes? Have you performed measurements of contraction, relaxation, intracellular signaling, Ca2+ mobilization and membrane potential? Do you also have experience in molecular biology such as CRISPR-Cas gene editing? You will be a key contributor to our in vitro assay development and optimization and testing of experimental therapeutics. You will be a valuable asset to our group. You will be working in concert with the other teams in a highly collaborative research environment.

You should have the ability to perform accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats experience. Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in biology or a related field with at least 2 years of laboratory research experience or a Master's degree with applicable research experience.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Familiar with setting up and running biochemical assays and ELISAs.
  • Experience in basic cell/molecular biology (cell culture, RT-PCR)
  • Knowledge of cardiac function and heart failure
  • Proven ability to work in flexible, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent oral/written communication/listening skills are essential.
  • Strong relationship-building and interaction skills with peers and management.

Additional Information
  • Flexible scheduling is a requirement. The position is full-time (40 hrs/wk), but not all regularly scheduled work hours will occur Mon-Fri from 8 AM-4:45 PM. There is a requirement to work after-hours or on weekends on occasion.
  • The position level will be commensurate with the candidate's experience. The position is governed by regulations including OSHA, AAALAC, OLAW and NRC — compliance to all applicable regulations is mandatory.
