We are seeking, a highly motivated, creative and innovative postdoctoral scientist to join the Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics department at Boehringer Ingelheim located in Biberach, Germany.

The position is limited to 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • As postdoctoral scientist, you develop a model to study drug metabolism and transport in innovative intestinal cell systems.
  • You study the regulation of intestinal drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters.
  • Additionally, you assess the impact of elevated metabolism and transport on the intestinal first pass of drug molecules.
  • Moreover, you apply the developed model to quantitatively predict intestinal extraction of drug candidates via metabolism and transport.


  • PhD in biology, biochemistry or a comparable scientific discipline
  • Profound experience with cell culture of primary cells and cell lines
  • Sound practical experience with in vitro assays to study drug transport and drug metabolism via Ph I and II as well as first publications in relevant scientific journals
  • Practical experience with biochemical analytical methods (e.g. absolute quantification of analytes via LC-MS/MS, photometric enzyme activity assays) as well as biomolecular methods (e.g. DNA/RNA isolation, qRT-PCR)
  • Experience with enzyme kinetic determinations
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacology
  • Very good communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to perform scientific work independently and to initiate, plan and implement projects
  • Excellent written and spoken English, a good command of German will be a plus
