The Department of Pediatrics/Division of Medical Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking non-tenure-track faculty at the level of professor outside the tenure track to lead clinical research initiatives in the division in collaboration with the division chief. The candidate will take prime responsibility in coordinating existing clinical research and expanding the clinical research portfolio in the Division of Medical Genetics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in conducting clinical research including investigator initiated studies and pharmaceutical company sponsored multi-center clinical trials involving inborn errors of metabolism, and have a track record of independent NIH funding. Responsibilities include writing grants, supervising clinical research staff, clinical evaluation of study subjects, and interaction with study sponsors, monitors, and regulators. Successful candidates should hold an MD and be certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Clinical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong potential for academic productivity, extramural funding, mentorship, and leadership. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s expertise, experience and expectations.

The Division of Medical Genetics is a top funded program with 15 faculty, 7 of whom hold full time research positions, and received in excess of $7M in research funding in 2017 from the NIH, private industry and charitable foundations. Division faculty hold 12 NIH grants individually or collaboratively. The CRDT offers access to cutting edge clinical research and patients with a broad spectrum of rare diseases.
