The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a distinguished Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry.

UT Dallas is a rapidly growing, vibrant and globally connected university of 27,000 students in the heart of north Dallas. Average SAT scores among entering freshmen are traditionally ranked among the highest of public universities in Texas. The University provides some of the state's most-lauded science and engineering programs and has also gained prominence for a breadth of educational paths, from business to biomedical engineering to arts and technology. With nearly 1 billion dollars in infrastructure buildout over the past decade, the university has emerged as one of the smallest yet most productive public R1 universities in the nation. Faculty recruitment and research funding has been enhanced by generous support from the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Opportunities to build strong collaborative research programs with other engineering and science faculty on the UTD campus or with faculty at our sister institution, UT Southwestern Medical Center, are outstanding. Joint appointments are also possible.

The successful applicant must have an internationally recognized research record, a strong record of external grant support, and be interested in mentoring students, postdoctoral fellows, and young faculty. New laboratory and office space has been set aside in the recently opened Bioengineering and Sciences building for the next Robert A. Welch Chair-holder along with a substantial start-up package that includes the opportunity to recruit additional junior faculty.
