Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor - Biology
The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant, associate, or full professorship beginning Fall 2018. Concentration: Parasites or other medically relevant microorganisms.
The Department seeks a scientist and educator with research interests in parasites or medically relevant microorganisms. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a research program leading to peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding. The successful candidate will also participate in providing both undergraduate and graduate research experiences for students in the bachelors, masters and doctoral programs.Teaching responsibilities will include courses at the undergraduate and graduate level as assigned, and may include evenings and weekends.

The Lehman College campus is located in Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York system. Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx that is part of the CUNY system and is recognized as a Hispanic Serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students that it prepares for employment, the professions and further study. Although the college is predominantly teaching focused, faculty at Lehman are active in research, scholarship and creative works. Service to the college, university and community is an important part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development, and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship support.
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below required. Also required are demonstrated abilities to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals, evidence of effectiveness in teaching, postdoctoral experience, grant writing and extramural funding efforts. An ability to work as a team player towards advancement of the department’s goals of developing and sustaining strong basic or translational research, demonstrated effective teaching techniques, and degree programs.
Commensurate with education and experience.
