Faculty, Center for Rare Disease Therapy
The Department of Pediatrics/Division of Medical Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, in conjunction with the Center for Rare Disease Therapy (CDRT) at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, is seeking tenure-track faculty at any level to lead basic research in the field of rare/orphan diseases. Candidates are being sought to complement the diverse investigative interests within the Division of Medical Genetics and the CDRT. The ideal candidate would be an energetic basic scientist with a passion for discovery who brings cutting-edge technologies to the study of rare/orphan diseases. Successful candidates may hold either an MD, PhD, or both, but must have a research track record in relevant disciplines. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong potential for academic productivity, extramural funding, mentorship, and leadership. Current grant funding is a plus. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s expertise, experience and expectations.
The Division of Medical Genetics is a top funded program with 15 faculty, 7 of whom hold full time research positions, and received in excess of $7M in research funding in 2017 from the NIH, private industry and charitable foundations. Division faculty hold 12 NIH grants individually or collaboratively. The CRDT offers access to cutting edge clinical research and patients with a broad spectrum of rare diseases.
