The Department of Cardio-Renal, Metabolism& Ophthalmology (CRMO) within Merck Research Laboratories located inBoston, MA is seeking a summer intern who will operate as a fully-integratedmember of the CRMO team.

The job will involve working with researchteams investigating novel targets and pathways for heart failure andpulmonary hypertension.    


The successful candidate will carrying outvariety of in vitro techniques for Cardiovascular research including cardiomyocytesand relevant pulmonary cell culture, adenoviral vector transduction, westernblot analysis, immunoassay techniques such as HTRF, ELISA, Mesoscale andgeneral data analysis.

The intern will be responsible for accurateelectronic notebook recording, safe laboratory practices, and presentation ofdata and their interpretation to a team of scientists. The intern will alsoattend departmental and team meetings to gain a wider perspective on the drugdevelopment process in the pharmaceutical industry.

We are seeking intern candidates with strongacademic performance, communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to workin a multi- functional environment.

Location: Boston, MA 

This is a full-time paid internship whereby aweekly stipend will be provided to the student. Housing subsidy is notavailable as part of this program, and if housing is required by student, itmust be funded 100% by the student.  Relocation expenses will bereimbursed for students currently living >50 miles away from their worklocation.

  • Candidatesmust be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry orany related fields
  • Candidatesmust have completed at least (2) years of study as of June 2018
Required Experience:
  • Candidates must be available to work full-time for 10-12 weeks beginning in June of 2018
  • Candidates musthave basic laboratory skills and research experience such as: cellular and/ormolecular biology, and safe lab practices
Preferred Experience:
  • Significant interestin cardiovascular research
  • Superior communicationand interpersonal skills, excellent academic achievement, analytical ability,good team player and ability to work independently
  • Advanced laboratoryskills, research experience and safe lab practices
