Postdoctoral Research Associate

This position within Department of Medicine is for a highly motivated individual with good communication skills and ability to interact with diverse group of biologists. As a research associate (RA), he/she will work under limited supervision and is expected to carry out complex research assignments. In addition, the RA will present data at departmental seminars and scientific meetings, assist with manuscript preparation, and contribute preliminary data for grant proposals. The research associate will contribute to the experimental design and executing designed experiments for the project. These include immune cell isolation, cell culture, and protein/RNA purification. Studies also include protein: protein and protein: DNA interactions. The selected candidate will actively participate in performing the experiments and preparation of manuscripts. The selected research associate will conduct research on a variety of inflammatory disorders and clinical problems based experimental evidence. In addition to these, the selected candidate will perform experiments designed for the project, which includes sample preparation and analysis. Other responsibilities include preparing scientific reports/manuscripts for publication. 

 

I. TECHNICAL SKILLS

Expertise in molecular biology, immune cell biology, isolation of monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils and experimental animal models required. Expertise in primary cell culture, RNA, protein isolation and analysis are required. Candidates who are not familiar with these techniques need not apply.  

 

II. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 Education requirements include a Ph.D. degree, fluency in English, and experience in modern techniques of rodent experimental models, tissue processing and cell culture are essential; A background in cardiovascular and/or immune cell biology is preferred. Years of relevant experience required are: Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology; record of relevant peer-reviewed publications; and provision of references who can attest to the applicant’s qualifications.

Other qualifications include,

  1. Strong expertise in molecular biology and cell biology.
  2. Experience with experimental rodent models.
  3. Expertise in studying gene expression, protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions.
