Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected individual will develop and perform laboratory research on left-right asymmetric organ development and birth defects, using Xenopus laevis and other amphibian species. The successful candidate will perform breeding and/or in vitro fertilization, embryo culture, microdissection, microinjection of loss-of-function (Morpholino oligonucleotides; CRISPR/Cas) and/or gain-of-function (synthetic inducible mRNA) reagents, RNA in situ hybridization, and basic molecular biology. The postdoc will also analyze RNAseq and human exome sequence data and supervise undergraduate students.
Minimum Experience/Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
Experience with Xenopus laevis strongly preferred.
Experience with bioinformatics analyses (e.g., RNAseq, proteomic or exome sequence data) also strongly preferred.
Other preferred experience:
-aquatic embryo microinjection and/or micromanipulation
-immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy
-CRISPR/Cas or morpholino -mediated genome editing
