Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences invites applications for the position of chair and graduate program director in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This full-time tenured or tenure track position is a 12-month appointment at the rank of professor or associate professor.

The College is seeking a collaborative leader who will enhance and expand the department’s vision for advancing education and research in the pharmaceutical sciences. The primary responsibilities of the chair are to provide strategic direction for the department, creative and innovative leadership in teaching, research and service. Candidates must have a strong commitment to instructional learning and will be expected to teach in courses in undergraduate, graduate and professional programs; maintain a productive, independent research program that complements the activities of the Department; and develop partnerships within the scientific community. In addition to supervision of faculty and staff within the department, the chair is responsible for oversight and leadership of the Masters of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree program and the integrity of the foundational biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences in the Doctor of Pharmacy program. The chair is a member of the Executive Committee in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and reports directly to the dean.

Applicants must have a PhD in a biomedical or pharmaceutical science, be an accomplished educator, and desire to work collaboratively with other members of leadership in the College to advance the mission. Additional desired qualifications include previous academic leadership experience, experience in mentoring junior faculty and students, development of research programs, and budgetary oversight. Applicants must have evidence of substantial and sustained experience in research, teaching, and service sufficient to merit tenure and appointment at the rank of professor or associate professor.

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers four academic programs: Doctor of Pharmacy, Masters of Physician Assistant Studies, Masters of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences.
