This is a 12-month non-tenure-accruing position that will be 100% teaching (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) available in the Microbiology and Cell Science Department, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida.  This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit.  Primary duties will include:

To teach sections of MCB 3020, Basic Biology of Microorganisms, in the Fall, Spring, and Summer B semesters in a fully online format To teach face-to-face lab sections of MCB 3020L Teach other lecture and lab courses as needed Participate in related teaching/education activities and STEM education research as needed in support of the department’s efforts  

In addition, the successful candidate will engage in scholarly activities related to instruction, including teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, participating in curriculum revision and enhancement, seeking funding for the teaching program, supervising undergraduate and graduate research and creative work, publishing teaching-related scholarship, producing learning tools, and engaging in professional development activities related to teaching and advising.  Faculty are encouraged to support and participate in the CALS Honors Program, distance education, and international education.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Microbiology or a closely related life science discipline is required.  The ideal candidate must have experience in teaching undergraduate level Microbiology or a closely related subject. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication and interpersonal relationships. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system.  Candidates must also have a commitment to IFAS core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Postdoctoral experience is desirable.  Experience with online teaching and familiarity with distance education delivery tools/strategies is preferred. Ideal candidate will have experience with evidence-based teaching approaches, discipline-based education research, and/or other activities in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
