A Postdoctoral Research Associate Position is available immediately to join and outstanding cross-collaborative team of scientists in the Departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The program builds on “proof of principal” that the human immunodeficiency virus can be eradicated with combination of long-acting slow effective release antiretroviral therapy and viral CRISPR Cas9 excision.  We seek a highly motivated, intelligent and energetic scientist with a Ph.D. or M.D. degree or both and thorough training in medicinal and organic chemistry and cell biology to work with an skilled organic chemists to produce best drug designs, synthesis and delivery strategies for small molecules. These modified medicines will be developed for stability and ease of manufacture within a newly minted GMP facility within whom the chosen scientist will work. The drug developed will be designed to maximally inhibit components of the viral life cycle. This position is an excellent opportunity to expand problem solving in the context of a novel therapeutic-focused project. The individual will a work with an interdisciplinary team and perform multifunctional studies. Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary. The initial appointment will be 12 months with renewal possibilities.
