We’re currently seeking a Director of smFL to drive the advancement of our state-of-the-art Single Molecule Fluorescence Center within the Department of Structural Biology.  Currently, the smFL Center is equipped with a 3-laser, 4-detector PicoQuant MicroTime 200 confocal fluorescence microscope; our planned expansion requires an experienced leader with expertise in smFL experiments to manage the purchase, operation and implementation of new instruments. Additional responsibilities include the hiring, training and supervising of staff members, and participation in research with investigators within and outside the department.  Our highly collaborative, mission-driven environment requires a team-oriented individual with strong leadership skills to ensure quality operations and procedures.

Minimum Experience

  • Five (5) years of post-degree relevant and productive work experience is required
  • Extensive experience in single-molecule biophysics and specifically with smFL experiments, preferably with PicoQuant instruments.
  • Knowledge of fluorescent labeling chemistry, and molecular, structural and/or cell biology is preferred
  • Demonstrated progression in continuing education in the protein technology disciplines is preferred.
  • Experience with personnel management is also preferred
  • Minimum Education
  • PhD degree in an appropriate scientific field required
