Production of high qualityproteins is a critical aspect of drug discovery research; recombinantproteins are used in a variety of assays, serve as antigens for antibodygeneration, are used for target validation, and for biologics, represent thedrug itself. Theprotein sciences department produces thousands of proteins each year toenable multiple avenues of research and development; given this number, weare exploring various automation solutions to increase our throughput. One unmet need is a medium-throughputautomated purification platform that generates up to tens of milligrams ofprotein from The intern would gain experience and knowledge of various proteinproduction and purification methods typically used within the pharmaceuticalindustry to support the research pipeline. The intern would also be introduced to the various approaches,strategies, and DOE required for drug discovery and development.
- Currently enrolled in a minimum of a BS/BA in: Biology,Biochemistry, Chemistry or relevant discipline
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Candidates must be available for a period of 9-12 continuous weeks, beginning June 2018
