We’re seeking an experienced research associate to join theInfectious Disease and Vaccine department at our research site in West Point,PA. The candidate will have a primary role on a team responsible forinvestigating the molecular biology of HIV and novel targets for the discoveryand development of new treatments. Thecandidate will independently design, execute experiments to interrogatemechanisms and evaluate potential therapeutics in various biochemical andcell-based assays and in vivo disease models.
The candidate should have a strong background in virology,molecular biology, genomic technologies, cell biology, animal pharmacology, andgeneral knowledge of infectious disease drug development. Education Requirement: Ph.D.
Required Experience and Skills:
Thecandidate should have a Ph.D. degree in biology or equivalent field, completeda post-doctoral fellowship and at least Four (4) years of academic or industrialresearch experience. He/She will be highly skilled in molecular virology,particularly HIV. He/She will have aproven track record in a range of virological, molecular and cellulartechniques, including in vitro and in vivo disease models of HIV.
The candidate will be proficient in HIVbiology, including latency, and demonstrated rigorous productive research ininvestigative viral replication, virus-host interactions, innate and adaptiveimmunity, and HIV pathogenesis. He/She will be experienced in developing andleading projects, troubleshooting experimental issues, and overseeing juniorlab members. The candidate will alsohave solid computer skills, excellent written and oral communication skills,and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinaryteam environment.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Highly skilled in molecular virology, particularly HIV
- Proven track record in investigating novel mechanisms
- Demonstratedexpertise in molecular biology, genomics, and cell biology
- Knowledge of invitro and in vivo model systems of HIV, including assay development and animalpharmacology
- Experience inbiochemical methods, cell-based assays, and sterile cell culture, particularlyfor infectious disease
- Knowledgeable in drug discovery and translationalresearch
- Solid computer skills, independent experimental designand execution, analytical problem solving capabilities
- Keen awareness of emerging biology and new technologies
