As a Cloud Services Engineer at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow. Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives. The Cloud Services team develops the strategy and works with teams worldwide to govern, grow, and operate Cloud solutions. Our team embraces the regulatory challenges of our industry and drives innovative, secure, and compliant use of Cloud Service Providers. We collaborate closely with internal and external partners worldwide to mature our ability to utilize Cloud Service Providers. Our team also impacts application development agility worldwide via our cloud-based application hosting Platform as a Service.

Primary job responsibilities include:
- Learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies and solutions in the cloud technology space.
- Learn to automate all the things by identifying, owning, collaborating, and driving new or further automation.
- Work with remote teams and help drive agreement and decisions.
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow.
- Able to handle multiple projects at a time.
- Embrace required training, documentation and regulatory compliance inherent to this industry.
- Able to help troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, correct, and implement preventative measures to prevent reoccurrence.
Education:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- Any software development skills (example: Javascript, Python, Powershell, Ruby, Java).
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow.
- Able to handle multiple projects at a time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively express ideas and suggestions.
- Team player.
- Operating system command line experience (Unix shells, Powershell).
- Familiar with common protocols and standards (HTTP/S, DNS, TCP/IP, CIDR notation).
- Working knowledge of cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services and/or Azure.
- Reading, understanding, and contributing to technical documentation.
- Knowledge of infrastructure management basics (eg: servers, networking, monitoring, patching, security) .
- Attention to detail with investigative, research, and analysis experience.
