Reporting to the Facilities Director at our research facility in Boston, Massachusetts, position will be responsible for :

  • Managing routine  and preventive maintenance of facilities  and facility  & utility equipment through Merck's IFM service provider, including:
  • Maintenance project  coordination, good engineering practices  & resource  conservation
  • Application of uniform  Service  Level Agreements (SLA's)  and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Sound estimating, cost control and program  scheduling.
  • Responsible for proper  operation of all site and purchased utilities.
  • Handles  site real estate matters.
  • Provides oversight for engineering work associated with the planning, design and construction of all new and renovated  physical  plant facilities,  utility systems,  laboratories and environmental protection systems  

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering plus relevant industrial experience
Required: 
  • Minimum of ten (10) years in combined facilities  engineering/management and project engineering role at a major research  lab or technical  facilities operation
  • Minimum of five (5) years fully directing/managing maintenance services at a pharmaceutical mfg. or significant  lab facility
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills within a matrix management environment;
Preferred:
  • Excellent  team player and the skill to work in a matrix organization.
  • Good interpersonal, leadership, organization, presentation and negotiating skills are required.
  • The ability to act independently and with creativity  in problem solving
  • Experience with project  management (MS Project), presentation/graphics and project management tools
