Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Assistant Professor
Research Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow Positions in Lung and Vascular Biology, Regenerative and Metabolic Research
Multiple scientist positions from Postdoctoral Fellow to Research Assistant Professor are open in the Program for Lung and Vascular Biology at Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute, Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. The program conducts leading interdisciplinary research in the field of lung and vascular biology focusing on the mechanisms of endothelial barrier dysfunction, endothelial regeneration and vascular repair, and resolution of inflammatory lung injury in sepsis and acute lung injury (JCI 2006, JEM 2010, Circulation 2016), and the pathogenesis of obliterative pulmonary vascular remodeling and right heart failure in pulmonary hypertension (JCI 2009, Circulation 2016). We also study how the pulmonary vascular niche regulates pulmonary fibrosis and lung regeneration.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in lung and vascular biology, or heart diseases with excellent publication record. Prior experience in either stem cell research (e.g., iPS/ESC differentiation to ECs), mitochondria and metabolism, epigenetics, RNA modification, lncRNA, or advanced imaging will be preferred. Candidates must have (or expect to receive) a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree, prior publications, and be self-motivated.
Competitive salary (following NIH scale), exceptional research environment, and outstanding mentorship for independent career development are available at Northwestern University. Please send a CV, and a brief statement of research accomplishments and future interests (1-2 pages), to Dr. Youyang Zhao, W.G. Swartchild, Jr. Distinguished Research Professor and Director, Program for Lung and Vascular Biology, and Professor of Pediatrics, Pharmacology, and Medicine (firstname.lastname@example.org).
