The PCR Systems reagent R&D group is responsible for consumables development for real-time PCR systems. The group is responsible for creating and developing ideas into successful products. The group requires scientists who are proficient in wet lab bench work to perform experiments for PCR reagents product development. The successful candidate will have flexible and adaptable mindset and able to work on several real time PCR systems. The junior candidate will be guided by directive of an established project or a senior member of the group. However, successful candidates of any level will require ability to solve problem independently. Overall, the successful candidate for this position needs to understand the scientific method and work in a collaborative and fast paced product development group.
- Work with a team of scientists to develop and optimize reagents for TaqMan qPCR and/or SYBR PCR application.
- Validate new PCR reagents on various real time PCR systems.
- Conduct biochemistry and molecular biology experiments, data analysis and result presentation.
Candidate must have a doctoral degree in one or more of the biological sciences related disciplines: examples but not limited to Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, Bioengineering, Virology, Genomics, Bioinformatics. Post-doctoral experience is also desired. Must have practical hands on experience in general molecular biology lab, for example extracting DNA/RNA from a variety of biological samples, set up qPCR, read DNA sequences, design PCR primers. In-depth knowledge of the molecular working of a PCR reaction is a must.
Industry experience is optional, we are willing to train candidate transitioning from academia to the industry. Must be willing to adapt and learn to work in a team environment. Able to communicate clearly in speaking and writing, for example giving a clear understandable seminar on the candidates doctoral thesis work. Strong background in nucleic acid chemistry, general molecular biology, microbiology, sequencing, PCR, bioinformatics, statics skills are all desirable. Ability to plan and execute experiments, interpret and report result are skills also indispensable to this position. Other traits of successful candidates are attention to detail, dexterity to use a pipetteman in the lab, good English writing skill, use of computer productivity software (word processor, spreadsheet, presentation) as well as statics software such as JMP, Minitab.
Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess:
- Typically requires PhD and postdoctoral experience in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related scientific discipline. Industry experience not required but is desired.
- Extensive hands on laboratory experience in nucleic extraction and qPCR. With in-depth knowledge of laboratory workflow able to perform troubleshooting experiments.
