Job Summary

Carrying out behavioral (emesis. serotonergic, dopaminergic- and tachykininergic behaviors) as well as biochemical (Enzymology. Calcium imaging, immunohistochemistry, molecular techniques such as cloning, gene expression and Western blots) research and help the Associate Dean of Research of Basic Medical Sciences to write manuscripts and submit grants.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Good verbal and written English communication skills

 

Ability to use confocal microscope and calcium imaging, HPLC Computers, detectors, pumps, software, cameras, videotapes, balances, ethovision system, counters, Elisa plate readers and molecular techniques

 

Required Qualifications

PhD in biological sciences

 

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Neuroscience with 3-5 years of experience

Job Duty

Organize and perform behavioral, molecular, immunohistochemical, calcium imaging, and biochemical experiments on animals. Make solutions and use microscopes, biochemical and molecular techniques, a variety of pumps, detectors, software, and visual observation to record data

Duties are routinely performed in a typical laboratory setting. While performing duties in this setting the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold (non-weather), and risk of electric shock.

The employee is regularly exposed to wet humid conditions (non-weather), moving mechanical parts, and high precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat (non- weather), and risk of radiation. The noise level in this setting may be loud due to the noise of ventilation system and hydraulic body hoist.
