Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure-Track)
Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Immunotherapeutics and Biotechnology (DIB) (https://www.ttuhsc.edu/pharmacy/immunotherapeutics-biotechnology/) at the Assistant or Associate level in Abilene, Texas. The DIB is part of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy (SOP) (ranked among the top 20 pharmacy programs in the nation) and was created through a significant financial gift from the Abilene community. To date, the strong commitment of the Abilene community to the TTUHSC system has resulted in dedicated buildings for the SOP, School of Nursing, and programs in Public Health.
The DIB is a supportive and growing department that maintains outstanding research facilities. Currently, the DIB is comprised of seven full-time, state-appropriated faculty with research interests in cancer biology, immunology, cancer immunotherapy, drug delivery, and the tumor microenvironment. Department faculty also have teaching responsibilities in oncology, human anatomy/physiology, immunology, pathophysiology, and pharmacotherapy courses for the TTUHSC SOP Pharm.D. program. Additionally, DIB faculty assume administrative, teaching, and research roles for the TTUHSC Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) Biotechnology program.
Candidates should possess a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree) along with a strong record of research experience and productivity in fields such as molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, or pharmacology. Individuals at an early stage in their career who have the promise and potential to build a sustainably-funded research program are encouraged to apply at the level of Assistant Professor. However, preferred candidates will exhibit excellent communication skills and teaching experience, possess transferable extramural funding, and desire to collaborate with faculty members across scientific disciplines. A competitive start-up package, salary, and benefits will be offered commensurate to the qualifications, experience, funding, and scientific merit of the successful candidate. Overall, DIB faculty are expected to compete for and maintain extramural research funding, teach relevant TTUHSC Pharm.D. and GSBS courses, and serve on SOP/institutional-wide committees as directed by the Department Chair.
This is an ideal opportunity for a talented individual to advance their academic career within an excellent environment. Abilene preserves the traditional heritage of the Old West while providing the advantages of a thriving, contemporary city and an affordable location to raise a family.
Interested individuals are required to submit an application package that includes a cover letter, curriculum vitae, summary of research interests, statement of teaching philosophy, and the contact information of three professional references. All documents must be submitted online at http://careers.texastech.edu (Assistant/Associate Professor Job Requisition #12035BR).
Review of applications will begin after 12/01/2017. Applications will continue to be accepted after this time until the position is filled.
