ENDOWED CHAIR IN IMMUNOLOGY RESEARCH

Department of Pathology

University of Iowa Health Care

The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is seeking basic scientist and physician scientist candidates for a tenure-track faculty position associated with an endowed chair appointment. Candidates must have a doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) and have a record of ongoing immunology research with robust extramural funding. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills. Successful candidates will be expected to run a strong research program in immunology, in addition to participating in clinical service and education (as appropriate). For appropriately board certified M.D. or Ph.D. candidates, any area of clinical expertise in Pathology will be considered.

There is broad flexibility in terms of the specific focus of immunology research, although there are natural departmental and institutional synergies in the areas of autoimmunity, basic T- and B-cell biology, neuroinflammation and infectious disease immunology. In addition to appointment on an endowed chair, lucrative startup packages are available that may include resources for programmatic development beyond the candidate’s own laboratory. The selected applicant will receive a primary appointment in the Department of Pathology, with opportunities for secondary appointments in other departments and programs. The University of Iowa is home to a range of outstanding research groups and centers that foster a collaborative and supportive environment for basic and clinical scientists.
