Research Assistant (Psychology), UCD School of Medicine (Temporary part-time)
In 2016 a collaboration was born between the Psychology Department and the Haematology and Oncology Department, with the aim to develop a National Paediatric Psycho-Oncology Service to work within the Paediatric Malignant Haematology and Oncology Service in Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. The development of the Paediatric Psycho-Oncology service in Ireland has been significantly under-resourced. The first step to develop an innovative national service in an area of clinical research that is still in infancy is to create within the current service a sustainable research capacity. In order to facilitate this process there is a need to employ a part-time Psychology Research Assistant who will have the role of enabling clinical research in the area of Psycho-Oncology by helping to create a Psycho-Oncology data base which would offer a critical support in developing and conducting research projects.
The Psychologist RA will work under supervision of Dr Chiara Besani, Senior Clinical Psychology in Oncology and Haematology in Our Lady Crumlin's Hospital and the RA would have a role in helping developing all the aspects of research and research development in psycho-oncology. The RA will be based in Our Lady Children's Hospital, Crumlin and the National Children Research Centre.
