Post-doc: Uncertainty Reduction in Offshore Wind Farm Operation & Maintenance
The task is to identify and reduce uncertainties in the operational phase of offshore wind farms. Uncertainties originate from various sources, from weather forecasts to wind turbine failures or logistics of maintenance. After identification of the major uncertainties, multivariate probability distributions will be generated for both operational and maintenance/logistics parameters. Existing simulation tools are used to relate these uncertainties to the costs and cost margins of offshore wind farm O&M activities. Advanced optimisation techniques will be applied to minimise the costs and reduce the uncertainty margins. As a result, optimised maintenance approaches will be identified for existing and future offshore wind farms. The post-doctoral research is performed in the framework of the STW Perspectief programme EUROS.
