Head of the School of Health Sciences

Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Head of the School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue University. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, the position will be available as early as July 1, 2018.  We seek an internationally recognized researcher who will provide leadership, vision, and management in curriculum, personnel, and faculty/staff development as well as serve as an advocate for the School to the College, University, and larger community.

The successful candidate will be an academic leader and scholar with a demonstrated commitment to the research and teaching missions of the School.  Applicants should have a strong record of published research and external funding commensurate with the rank of Tenured Full Professor.  Field of specialization is open.  Desirable attributes include prior experience in academic administration, graduate and/or undergraduate education, and development.  The candidate selected will be someone who values and promotes diversity. A Ph.D. in Health Sciences or related field is required.

The School of Health Sciences is a diverse and collegial department with 14 tenure track faculty and 13 adjunct faculty. These vibrant and productive faculty bring exceptional strengths in the broad areas of Medical & Health Physics, Environmental Health &Toxicology, and related research areas. The School is highly interdisciplinary and enjoys a rich network of colleagues throughout the University including the Graduate Program in Public Health, Bindley Bioscience Center, Center for Cancer Research, and the Institute for Integrative Neuroscience. The School has ABET-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs in Industrial Hygiene and a CAMPEP-accredited program in Medical Physics. The School is home to two major training and education grants through NIOSH and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and leads the NIH-funded Life Science MRI facility.
