Multiple Faculty Positions Available,
Department of Cell Biology, Microbiology & Molecular Biology
The Department of Cell Biology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology (CMMB) within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Florida is seeking applications for multiple tenure-track/tenure-eligible faculty positions at any rank within the three major areas of research strength for the department:
(1) Bacterial Pathogenesis: We invite applications from candidates whose research focuses on understanding the cellular, molecular and genetic basis of infectious disease or antimicrobial resistance. (2) Genome Integrity & Mechanisms of Aging: We encourage candidates to apply who study mechanisms of DNA replication, repair, recombination, chromatin structure and function, or the cellular stress response in human cells, eukaryotic model organisms, or in vitro. (3) Structural & Computational Biology: Special consideration will be given to candidates with research programs that focus on structure elucidation of large macromolecular assemblies using cryo-EM and/or X-Ray crystallography. We are also interested in candidates using single molecule techniques to understand biomolecular structure and dynamics.
All candidates should have a Ph.D. degree, postdoctoral experience, and a strong track record of high impact publications in their area of specialization. Applicants at the level of Assistant Professor are expected to develop and/or maintain a strong, externally funded research program. Those at the rank of Associate or Full Professor should have a proven track record of extramural funding, including currently active grants. All candidates will be expected to contribute to the education of undergraduate and graduate students, with those at senior ranks already demonstrating a successful record of mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Candidates whose research programs span multiple departmental focus areas are particularly encouraged to apply.
The department offers outstanding laboratory space, as well as a competitive salary and start-up package for the successful candidates. Opportunities for collaboration exist across the USF campus, including with the USF Colleges of Medicine, Public Health, and Engineering, the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, the Johnnie B. Byrd Sr. Alzheimer's Institute, the Departments of Chemistry and Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Center for Biological Defense, and Center for Drug Discovery and Innovation. USF is designated by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research University/Very High Research Activity and has one of the fastest growing biomedical research bases in the country.
Application information: Applicants should use the online application link below to submit a cover letter, curriculum vita including the names of at least three referees, research plan and statement of teaching philosophy. The review of applications will begin on December 1st, and will continue until the positions are filled.
