Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Biology
The Wilkes Honors College (WHC) of Florida Atlantic University seeks to fill an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position in Biology.
The WHC is a highly selective semi-autonomous unit within FAU, with its own full-time faculty and a four-year, all-honors, liberal arts and sciences curriculum, which includes interdisciplinary coursework and a senior thesis (www.honorscollege.edu). The WHC is located in Jupiter, FL on FAU's MacArthur Campus, which is an international hub for scientific research. The campus is host to the world-renowned research institutes Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience and Scripps Research Institute Florida, along with FAU's Jupiter Life Sciences Initiative and Brain Institute. In addition, FAU's Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute is located in nearby Fort Pierce. With access to state-of-the-art facilities, start-up funding, established graduate programs, and the opportunity to explore synergies with existing areas of emphasis (e.g., neuroscience, marine biology, cancer biology) candidates are expected to actively collaborate in and contribute to maintaining an extramurally-funded research program.
Currently, the WHC enrolls 440 honors students and has 37 full-time honors faculty members. As part of the University's ambitious strategic plan, the WHC will increase the size of its student body and grow its faculty over the next five years. The WHC must be an example of excellence in undergraduate education, therefore all members of the WHC faculty must love and excel in teaching and mentoring students, including supervision of honors theses.
The successful candidate will contribute to the WHC focus on interdisciplinarity and be ready to contribute to exciting research-infused STEM curriculum initiatives. The teaching load is negotiable and will depend on extramural funding.
